Range Rover Sport: Matchbox

Finally, my exams are over! And now I'm just waiting for the results to come out next week. So in the meantime, I guess I have plenty of time to update my blog. Let's start with this one:

Range Rover Sport from Matchbox VIP Luxury 2008
I wasn't really keen on getting this one even though I've seen it on the shelf a few times. But since I already bought the black Range Rover Sport a few weeks ago, I thought that it would be nice to have a white one to complement the black one.

The first Land Rover was launched in 1948, hence the 60th anniversary in 2008. Despite being released with the "60 YRS" tampo on the front doors to commemorate this event, the level of detail of the white Range Rover is quite disappointing, when you compare it with the black one. The headlights are not painted, and as you can see in the picture below, the taillights are just a pair of huge blots of red ink.

Even so, the overall shape of the casting looks pretty good. So it would still be a nice addition to my collection.

Nissan Fairlady Z: Tomica

Hey guys, you might notice that my blog is not frequently updated for the past few weeks. Been rather busy lately, with the exam coming up and stuff. Anyway, my finals are coming up next week, so there probably won't be any updates for about a week or so. Wish me luck guys! In the meantime, here's my final post before my exam:

Nissan Fairlady Z from Tomica
Though I'm not a huge fan of the 370Z (I still think the 350Z is the best looking Z of all time), this is my third 370Z from Tomica, after the 40th Anniversary version and the Roadster version.

I'd love to do a side-by-side comparison with the yellow Nissan 370Z from Hot Wheels, but unfortunately the car is not with me at the moment. So I guess it'll have to wait. That's all for now. I'll see you guys in a week!

'71 Mustang Mach 1: HW Larry's Garage

I thought I would never be able to get my hands on this beauty:

'71 Mustang Mach 1 from Hot Wheels Larry's Garage (30-Car Set Walmart exclusive)
Being a Walmart exclusive is one thing, but being sold in a 30-Car Set is just unfair. Luckily I managed to get this one without having to buy the other 29 cars in the set. A thousand thanks to mushr00m again! :D

The black Mustang is exactly what I needed to complete my '71 Mustang Mach 1 collection. Here it is pictured with the other three.

Desert Thunder V16: Matchbox

Sorry guys, we're taking a break from Mustangs today. I'm currently out of new Mustangs, but fret not as my Mustang package will arrive in a just few days. So for the time being, take a look at this monster:

Desert Thunder V16 from Matchbox Desert Endurance 2011
Bought this for the sake of the gunmetal rims, which look totally awesome.

Despite the size of the truck, it's actually a pretty light casting. Probably due to the extensive use of plastic parts rather than die-cast. Still a great casting though, owing to the neat tampos and fantastic-looking rims.

The first time I've seen a truck with buttocks. :P

'69 Ford Mustang: HW Larry's Garage

Here's another Mustang from kukubeh. He said this one almost got slaughtered for the wheels. Luckily he was willing to trade it with me. :p

'69 Ford Mustang from Hot Wheels Larry's Garage
Looking at the rubber wheels, you would expect that it has a metal base as well. Turned out it actually has a plastic base, despite being a car from Larry's Garage. But like every other Mustang, it's still a looker.

By the way, this particular '69 Ford Mustang is a 'chase' version. Yay!
In case you're wondering, that's Larry Wood's signature right there at the bottom of the chassis. I wonder how the chase cars were made though. Were they sent in the loose form to Larry Wood in order to get his signature before being properly packaged in the blister pack over there? Or were they shipped back to Thailand for packaging after getting the signature? I'm pretty sure Larry Wood doesn't actually live in Thailand just to sign the chase cars. And I would be very, very disappointed if his signature is actually just printed on the base, just like the 'B23' in the picture above.

2010 Ford Mustang GT: HW Mustang Mania

Got this little beauty from a trade with kukubeh today. Thanks bro kuku! :D

2010 Ford Mustang GT from Hot Wheels Mustang Mania
Just look at it! Even the card looks awesome. But of course none of my collection ever remains carded..

I'm still keeping the card though (just the upper part)..

The details are actually pretty good on this one. I was partially disappointed with the plastic base, but overall, I'm totally in love with this Mustang.

*Anyway, just an update, I also got a blue Mustang Mach 1 from kuku today. The previous post on the Mustang Mach 1 is updated with the new pictures. Thanks. :)

2010 Ford Mustang GT: HW

2010 Ford Mustang GT from Hot Wheels Faster Than Ever 2011
The black one is a Kmart exclusive, pictured here with the first colour variation in the 2011 series. It's impossible to get the black one normally in Malaysia, since we don't have Kmarts over here. Luckily my friend helped me out with this one. Thanks bro! :)

*Update: Another variation added.

1968 Mustang: HW Classics

Yup! Another shiny Mustang today. :)

1968 Mustang from Hot Wheels Classics Series 1
The hood can be opened, but the hinge broke off on this one, and it needs some sort of support to keep it opened. Will take pictures of the engine bay once I find something suitable to support the hood.

1965 Mustang: HW Classics

Here's another lovely addition to my Mustang collection:

1965 Mustang from Hot Wheels Classics Series 2
Thanks again to mushr00m for this timeless beauty. :)

Some of you might remember that I already have 3 1965 Mustang from the Classics series prior to this recent purchase. Here they are, pictured with the new family member:
Thanks for looking! :)

Mustang Mach 1: HW Classics

I received a box of Mustangs from mushr00m a few days ago, and this is part of what's in the package.

Mustang Mach 1 from Hot Wheels Classics Series 2
Many thanks to mushr00m for helping me out again with my regular Mustang doses. :D

I'm starting to love the Spectraflame paint used on these Classics series. The extra shiny clear coat gives the car a premium and classic look.

*Just an update: I managed to get another Mustang Mach 1 in blue with kuku's help. Thanks very much bro! :)

'08 Honda Civic Type R: Matchbox

An unexpected find during a quick visit to a nearby 7-Eleven while waiting for dinner to arrive last night:

'08 Honda Civic Type R from Matchbox Metro Rides 2011
This would be my second Civic Type R, after the blue version.

Looks like this time Matchbox decided not to put license plates with hidden meanings like they usually did. Anyway, despite the lame license plate, the car looks absolutely stunning in orange, and the black rims with chromed orange lips are fantastic!

Rear end is very well detailed, as expected of Matchbox. I can see why people are hoarding this car as soon as they're available on the pegs.

Sweet Streets: HW

Sweet Streets from Hot Wheels City Works 2011
Even though it has a plastic base, it is still a pretty heavy casting overall. Probably due to the thick die-cast body. I can't imagine how much it will weigh with a metal base.

The choices in the menu seem to be quite limited.

2010 Ford Mustang GT: HW

Here's another Mustang to get rid of the Monday blues. Hmm, I'm thinking that maybe we should have Mustang Mondays. How does that sound?

2010 Ford Mustang GT from Hot Wheels Faster Than Ever 2011
Anyway, the carded one above isn't mine. I got mine loose.
