This is my second Ford F-100 from Matchbox. The first one is in matte black.

As usual, great paint job and tampo from Matchbox.

Just look at the size of that thing!

Ford Mustang GT: HW Color Shifters

I've seen this Mustang quite a few times before this, but was always reluctant to get it because of the price. But a Mustang's a Mustang, and I just got to have it one way or another. So here you go, my first car from the Color Shifters series:

Ford Mustang GT from Hot Wheels Color Shifters
Some of you might think that this is an error card because of the car's position, but I think the error could be corrected by pushing the car in the plastic into the correct position, therefore it is not a genuine error.

They included this card thing that shows you the alternate colour of the car when you pull the yellow tab at the side.. So this Mustang is supposed to change from red...

...to black, upon contact with icy cold water.

Note that it must be icy cold water. I've tried it with cold water running from the tap, and it didn't work. If you want to change it back to red, you have to use warm water. The colour change occurs instantly, meaning that it doesn't go from red to dark red to darker red and eventually black, it just goes from red to black in the blink of an eye. And the colour stays at room temperature, so you don't have to worry about the car changing back to red once it's out of the water.

It looks pretty good in black. Looks kinda like matte black. The downside is that most of the tampo on the car is black as well, therefore they're not visible when the car is black, except for the race number "35" tampo on the door. You have to be careful when handling the car while it's wet, 'cos if you touch any part of the car that's wet, it will react with your body temperature and that part will turn to red. So you have to hold the car by the wheels when you're taking it out from the icy water.

If you can't decide which colour looks best on this car, you can always do this...

...or this. I decided to keep mine in the original red though.

'65 Ford Mustang Fastback: HW Garage

This year's Hot Wheels Garage series is divided according to the manufacturers, and the Mustang I'm featuring today, of course, belongs to Ford's Garage. Other manufacturers in the 2011 Garage series include GM, Ferrari, Volkswagen and Mopar. The complete list of the cars available in Ford's Garage is printed at the back of the card.

List of cars in Ford's Garage:
  1. '56 Ford
  2. '64 Ford Falcon Sprint
  3. '67 Shelby GT500
  4. '67 Custom Ford Mustang Coupe
  5. '70 Ford Mustang Mach 1
  6. '72 Ford Ranchero
  7. Shelby Cobra "Daytona" Coupe
  8. '56 Mercury
  9. '65 Ford Mustang Fastback
  10. '65 Ford Mustang Convertible
  11. '67 Ford Bronco
  12. '70 Ford Torino
  13. Ford GT40
  14. Shelby Cobra 427
  15. '62 Ford Mustang Concept
  16. '65 Mercury Comet Cyclone
  17. '66 Ford Fairlane
  18. '68 Mercury Cougar
  19. '73 Ford Falcon XB
  20. '10 Ford Shelby GT500
There is a total of 20 cars in Ford's Garage, out of which 7 are Mustangs. Yay!! Anyway, let's get back to my second Mustang in the Garage series:

Rubber wheels look good, but they don't spin smoothly. Well, it's not like you're going to use a Garage series car in a race anyway.

Overall details and quality are much better than a basic Hot Wheels die-cast, but with a price tag of RM20 (roughly equivalent to 3 basic Hot Wheels), it may not appeal to every collector. Do I love this car? Absolutely. But is it worth 3 basic Hot Wheels cars? I'm not so sure.

'67 Shelby GT500: HW Garage

The 2011 Hot Wheels Garage series was released quite sooner than I expected. Which meant I had to fork out this week's pocket money to pay for the cars. But that's probably the only downside to it though.

'67 Shelby GT500 from Hot Wheels Garage 2011
Looks pretty much the same like the other '67 Shelby GT500s in my collection...

...except for the wheels and the metal chassis...

...which means that I've paid RM13 (roughly equivalent to 2 basic Hot Wheels) for the wheels and the metal chassis. Pretty expensive I would say, but I just can't resist a Mustang.

'65 Ford Mustang: HW Connect Cars

Found this sweet '65 Mustang at Amcorp recently. Too bad I couldn't find the carded version, which comes with a nice display case.

'65 Ford Mustang from Hot Wheels Connect Cars (Nebraska)
One of Nebraska's major produce is corn, hence the hood tampo.

"Equality Before the Law" is Nebraska's motto. Nebraska became the 37th state of the United States in 1867, hence the number '37' and '1867' on this Mustang. And they seem to like football based on the tampo on the front fenders.

Ford Mustang Fastback: HW

An unexpected find at Amcorp Mall last Sunday. Got it for a cheap price, plus it's in a pretty good condition considering it's loosed.

London Bus: Fast Lane

Drove for about an hour to get to the new Toys"R"Us at IOI Mall. Ended up buying only this:

London Bus from Fast Lane
Priced at RM12.95, this die-cast is a lot more expensive than Matchbox's or Tomica's London Bus.

Looking at the illustration at the side of the box, you would think that the bus is battery-powered or has some sort of pull-back action, with real working lights. You'd be wrong, it's just a normal die-cast. Body, chassis, wheels, and that's it.

There's an open top version as well. Apart from the open top upper deck, it looks exactly the same like this one.

The banner on the side of the bus is just a sticker. Interior details are pretty good though. The wheels may look pretty, but they tend to get stuck sometimes, and there's a lot of friction as well. It won't get very far if you don't push it hard enough.

Closer inspection of the bottom of the chassis revealed that this die-cast was actually made by Motormax, and not Realtoy like the majority of Fast Lane's die-casts. Another weird thing is the usage of screws rather than rivets to hold the body and the chassis together.

'70 Dodge Challenger "Continental Shaker": HW Vintage Racing

I wasn't actually planning to get this one from the Vintage Racing series, but the tampo and the wheels on the '70 Dodge Challenger are just way past cool.

'70 Dodge Challenger "Continental Shaker" from Hot Wheels Vintage Racing
Just look at the chrome rims wrapped by the fat rubbers! They look great! And I really like the tampo as well. Looks flawless, at least on this side.

A.J. Foyt's '65 Ford Mustang: HW Vintage Racing

My second Mustang from the Vintage Racing series. Let's hope there would be more to come.

A.J. Foyt's '65 Ford Mustang from Hot Wheels Vintage Racing
To be honest, it doesn't look quite as stunning as George Follmer's '70 Mustang Boss 302, but it's still a beautiful car (well, to me, all Mustangs are beautiful).

Like all '65 Mustangs, the front wheels tend to be displaced outwards, like they're on spacers. I'm not sure if they're meant to be that way.
