Ferrari GTO: HW

A classic beauty from the stable of the prancing horse.

Ferrari GTO from Hot Wheels 2008 First Editions
Classic Ferraris look beautiful in yellow. The same can't be said for the newer models though.

Despite having said numerous times that I'm not a fan of Ferrari, I already have 6 Ferrari die-casts in my collection, including this one. I know 6 is not many, but for someone who's not a fan, that's quite a lot. So why did I buy them? Well, the thing about Ferrari is that even if you don't really fancy it when you see the pictures in magazines and stuff, you'd still drool over one when you see the car in metal. The same goes for this GTO. I've seen this car countless times in various sales threads and forums, but I never thought about getting one, at least not until my friend showed the actual die-cast to me. As soon as I laid my eyes upon the car, I thought that it was a real beauty and I just can't resist the temptation to buy one. And I did.

Ferrari 250 GTO: HW

Classic Ferraris are always a sight to behold. They look gorgeous in picture, and even better in metal. Here's a famous legend from the 1960s:

Ferrari 250 GTO from Hot Wheels Premiere 2009
It's hard to believe that people in the '60s managed to create something as beautiful as this.

The details on this Ferrari is quite astounding, for a Hot Wheels that is. Painted taillights, fuel cap, door handles, rear license plate, etc, things which are usually absent on other Hot Wheels cars. I guess Ferrari were quite strict when they gave Hot Wheels the license to make die-cast models of their cars. They probably said something like "Make our cars look good, or don't make them at all." If only Ford said the same thing...

Ferrari 458 Italia: HW

This is probably my last post for this week. Not that I don't have any more die-cast cars to feature, it's just that they're still in the hostel office, and I wont be picking them up anytime soon, 'cos the staffs at the office are starting to complain that I always have the cash to buy stuffs online even though I still haven't paid my college fees. So I'm currently waiting for my scholarship so that I can pay the college fees and pick up my stuff at the office without having to wear an ear plug every time I go there. Anyway, here's another beautiful cast from 2010:

Ferrari 458 Italia from Hot Wheels Premiere 2010

This beauty only costs RM6.90 each, while the college fee that I need to pay is RM490 (that's 71 Hot Wheels cars!!). So it's really unfair for the staffs to complain about my unpaid fees and relate them to my hobby. College fees can wait, die-casts can't. This car would probably be gone from the pegs if I were a few days late.

Great details on the Ferrari. See the white line just in front of the rear wheel? That actually reads "Pininfarina". And you can actually read it. The macro mode on my camera isn't that good though, so you probably can't read it from here.

Rear end is a bit disappointing.

Bet the engine bay would look great if it's painted. Too bad it isn't.

Ferrari 599XX: HW SM

This is the second version of Ferrari 599XX from the Speed Machines series. I love the dark red paint they used on the previous version. Paired with the beautiful shape of the cast itself, the red Ferrari 599XX looks absolutely stunning. For the second version though, they just decided to dip the whole thing into a jar of mustard. And here's the result:

Ferrari 599XX from Hot Wheels Speed Machines
Hmm... I don't know.. It just doesn't seem right in yellow.

There are things which look nice in yellow. The Ferrari F355 looks nice in yellow, the Ferrari Testarossa looks nice in yellow, Kristen Bell looks hot in a yellow bikini, bananas look yummy in yellow, but the 599XX? Don't get me wrong, the 599XX is a beautiful, beautiful car. It's like Megan Fox's lips. They look sexy in red, but in yellow? I do know someone who would absolutely love this car in yellow though...

Ferrari 599XX, Scirocco GT24: HW SM

I grabbed these two as soon as I saw them, even though I was running out of cash really fast this week.

The Scirocco GT24 and the Ferrari 599XX from Hot Wheels Speed Machines.

Scirocco GT24 (GT means Gorgeous & Tempting)
Yellow car with blue rims would usually cause me to regurgitate my stomach content. But this one's a Scirocco. And a Scirocco looks great in any colour. Except pink. And brown. And orange.

Ferrari 599XX (No, I have no idea what the XX stands for)
This is probably the nicest paint colour I have seen from Hot Wheels. The red paint is different than the ones they use on the other casts. This one is richer and darker, and it's just perfect for this car. And trust me, it looks so much better on the real cast. My cheap digicam doesn't do this car justice.

Ferrari F430 Challenge, '55 Chevy Bel Air: HW

Nothing much to be said here. I just bought these 'cos they look pretty cool.

Ferrari F430 Challenge from Hot Wheels Racing 2010
My first die-cast Ferrari, and my first die-cast with white rims. The details are pretty good even though it's not from the Speed Machine series. Note that the headlights are made from dark transparent plastic like the windshield, which I suppose is a good thing. The taillights are a bit disappointing though. How hard can it be to paint 4 tiny red dots for the taillights?

'55 Chevy Bel Air from Hot Wheels Hot Auction 2010
I just love classic cars with chrome bits. That pretty much sums up the reason as to why I bought this one.
